Exploring Natural History

"Exploring Natural History" is a one-day field based workshop on Natural History and Photography. The aim of the workshop is to enable participants to identify and appreciate common life forms like plants, trees and animals in their environment. The workshop facilitates participants to understand the different aspects of biodiversity around us. This will be followed by an interactive session moderated by experts to discuss ways and means of contributing to initiatives on biodiversity and conservation. As an added benefit, the workshop will introduce the audience to the basic principles of appreciating biodiversity through photography. Participants will learn tips and precautions to be followed while using photography as a tool to experience biodiversity. 

Session Details:

  • 08:30 - 09:30 am | Arrival and breakfast
  • 09:30 - 11:00 am | On the trail: Appreciating life around us
  • 11:00 - 11:30 am | Break - light refreshments
  • 11:30 - 01:00 pm | Why biodiversity?
  • 01:00 - 02:00 pm | Lunch
  • 02:00 - 03:30 pm | Photography as a tool to capture biodiversity (along with light refreshments)
  • 03:30 - 05:00 pm | On the trail capturing life behind the lens

Place: Eco-station, Gubbi, Tumkur district, Karnataka | Gubbi is about 90 km north-west of Bangalore along the NH 206 Bangalore - Honnavar National Highway. If you are reaching by public transport (Bus-KSRTC / Train), it will take you about 2.5 hours to reach Gubbi. If you are driving it will take less than 2 hours. Detailed instructions on reaching the place will be communicated to the participants.

  • Workshop at Eco-station, Gubbi: 10th February 2013

Facilitators: The workshop will be led by Dr. K. V. Gururaja, Dr. Karthick Bala, Dr. Aravind Madhyastha and Dr. H. S. Sudhira.

Charges: Rs. 3,000 per person (includes breakfast, lunch and other resources).
