Participants of PRiMER after the course! What a way to wrap it up for the coming year! Thank you to all the particpants.

Cities are complex systems. Building on the 'science of cities' our research works on planning for evolution of cities.

Biodiversity estimations have been typically carried out mostly in protected areas. However, there remains an un-estimated diversity outside forests or the non-protected areas which are mostly not sampled and estimated scientifically. Here, our research attempts to study the biodiversity in the non-protected areas.

Frog Find 1.0 is here for FREE!

Update: The wait is over. Go get the app here at no charge!

And for those who missed our launch event, please read this post by Dr. Gururaja!

Gubbi Labs is proud to launch an android app, "Frog Find 1.0" that helps to identify frogs and toads of the Western Ghats. This is based on our popular publication, 'Pictorial Guide to Frogs and Toads of the Western Ghats' by Dr. K. V. Gururaja published last year. This monsoon, you can use this app to venture in the field and use this interactive app on your mobile phone. This is being launched on 27th April 2013 coinciding with the 5th Annual Save the Frogs Day at Jaaga, Bangalore.

Where are House Sparrows in Bangalore?

Tomorrow, (20th March) is now annually celebrated as World Sparrows Day. This is mostly in response to raise awareness on House Sparrow and other common birds in urban environments. Given that our labs' derives its name from House Sparrow (in Kannada), we decided to bring out a brief review on the status of House Sparrows as a Working Paper. We have put forward a few 'speculations' or hypotheses and have updated our map of Sparrows in Bangalore.

Of ants, bird-photographers on SUVs, epidemic and start-ups!

Note: The page attempts to load a java applet to run a model, so it may take some time depending on your browser and internet connection.

What's the connection with ants, bird-photographers on SUVs, epidemic and start-ups? Well, these were some keywords of the cases that we explored during our first short-course (and perhaps the first one in India!) on Agent-based modeling for studying social and ecological systems".
